A Leap of Faith: Cebu House of Prayer

Updated: Apr 9, 2025

JUNE 2023: I MOVED TO CEBU CITY TO BEGIN MY NEW JOURNEY WITH THE CEBU HOUSE OF PRAYER (CHOP)

There are moments in life when we feel called to step out in faith, to embrace the unknown and trust that God is leading us in the right direction. One such moment occurred recently, when I said "yes" to God to serve Him in the House of Prayer.

It all began with a growing desire to create a space where people could come together to pray, worship, and grow in their relationship with God; where people can seek the Lord and gaze upon His beauty (Ps 27:4).

"ONE THING I ASK FROM THE LORD, THIS ONLY DO I SEEK: THAT I MAY DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE, TO GAZE ON THE BEAUTY OF THE LORD AND TO SEEK HIM IN HIS TEMPLE." - PSALM 27:4

As I sought the Lord's guidance, I felt an unmistakable push towards serving in a House of Prayer. He led me to Cebu House of Prayer, a ministry of YWAM Philippines that envisioned a 24/7 forerunner movement of corporate worship and intercession fueled by intimacy with God. I decided to take the leap and moved to Cebu to begin my new journey and be a full-time volunteer (intercessory missionary). It was a decision that felt both exciting and intimidating, but I knew that God was worthy of my trust and commitment.

It's an honor to be able to serve Him in this capacity, and I am filled with anticipation and gratitude for the opportunity to serve God in this area of ministry. I know there will be challenges and uncertainties in this journey, but I trust that God will guide me every step of the way. My heart is full of hope and anticipation for what lies ahead. I desire to grow more in His Word and deepen my relationship with Him.

BURNING HEARTS:

A WEEK BEFORE BECOMING AN OFFICIAL STAFF AT CHOP

The Burning Hearts Conference in Singapore this year was not on my original plan, God was so reassuring and constant in his moving that. He simply made a way for me to go. The conference took place from July 27 to 29, 2023, just before I start my commitment with Cebu House of Prayer on August 01, 2023.

Before going to the event, doubts crept into my heart, questioning the worthiness of my decision and my ability to serve. I felt inadequate and unsure of how I would navigate my new environment. But the Lord did not disappoint. During the conference, a speaker shared a powerful story about how the Lord redirected the conversation during their leaders meeting and revealed His worth. It was a transformative moment, as the Speaker saw a picture of Jason, the founder of Burning Hearts house of prayer, standing in an empty stadium. He faced an accuser who questioned his commitment and asked, "Is this still working for you, Jason?" In response, Jason boldly declared that this was not a sacrifice but a love offering to Jesus.

THIS IS NOT A SACRIFICE. THIS IS A LOVE OFFERING TO JESUS!

The question was flipped, and the Lord asked, "Am I still worth it?" This question has resonated deeply within me, and my heart's cry echoes Jason's declaration: This is not a sacrifice, but a love offering for Jesus. Reflecting on this, I know that Jesus is preeminent above all things and worthy of my devotion. My heart has been marked with a deeper yearning for our Bridegroom. There's a song that keeps lingering in my head, "No matter how small my all may be, I'm giving you all there is to me. You're beautiful, worth it all."

I thank God and to the people who made it possible for me to attend. And, also the kind and generous people we met who treated us so well on this trip. Thank you so much! Those days spent together were so priceless. One question rang out for everyone there as He invited us to focus on our gaze on Jesus' beauty and eagerly wait for His return: "Is He worthy?"

YES, JESUS IS WORTHY!

Side note: It's my second time in Singapore. The first time was during my DTS mission trip to India when we had our layover there for a few hours and were given an opportunity to tour around for free! Would love to come back again.
